What is an UGC Approved journal?
University Grants Commission, popularly known as UGC, is the supreme authority for Universities and several research grants in India.
Recently in 2017, UGC came out with a list of around 35000 journals. According to the UGC notification, the journals listed had high impact and were genuine.
So researchers were advised to publish the papers in these journals. Research works published in these journals were considered for the purpose of promotion and direct recruitment of university teachers.
According to an official, UGC has released the list of approved journals, and only research works published in them would be considered for the purpose of the Career Advancement Scheme (CAS) and recruitment of teachers and other academic staff.
On 16th September 2019, the new UGC-CARE (Consortium for Academic Research and Ethics) list, compiled by a team of experts including scholars and experts from various academic councils, around 800 verified and genuine journals have been included.
How to search UGC approved journals?

You need to log in to search the journals.
Create your own account by using your Email id or else it has a default id and password. Once you visit the website it will redirect to log in page.
