About Dr. David Whiston Leadership Award
The Dr. David Whiston Leadership Award honours those who demonstrate leadership skills in the dentistry profession by engaging with the community, serving the profession, or advancing oral public health science.
The award is named after David Whiston, D.D.S., who was president of the American Dental Association from 1997 to 1998, a trustee from 1992 to 1996, and president of the ADA Foundation’s board of directors from 2010 to 2014.
About the Crest and Oral-B Prospective Researcher Award
This Award encourages and rewards excellence in oral health research by offering financial support to promising researchers who want to work in preventive dentistry research. Basic, translational, or clinical research are all possibilities.
Award money: The recipient will receive $5,000
Purpose to spend:
This money can be utilised to attend or present at scientific conferences. The funds may be used for registration fees, travel expenses, meals and lodging. With approval from the ADA Foundation’s Charitable Grants Committee, the recipient may also use the award money to cover research-related expenses.
Applicants must provide a written summary of how they would use the award funds when they submit their application.

Who is eligible?
Candidates must be U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents who are enrolled in one of the following degree programmes at an eligible institution and undertake oral health research in preventive dentistry: Ph.D. or equivalent; M.P.H., M.S. or equivalent; or foreign equivalent.
A college, university, vocational school, or higher education institution that is accredited by the US Department of Education and is eligible to participate in a student aid programme is considered eligible.

The submission deadline for both awards is June 27.
